The Blue Dog Band

Eddie's Sports Bar (five nights a week)

About Me

The Blue Dog Band has been together going on two years. We've had a few different members, but we're settled down now. We play at a local Anchorage bar called Eddie's Sports Bar, five nights a week. Brook faulk is the "boss" of the Blue Dog Band and was playing with us five nights a week, but due to her daughter having seizures, she wanted to spend more time with her daughter, so she cut down to only two nights a week. So she asked a well known local country artist to sit in, Mike Olson, who has been doing a great job and has been bringing in one hell of a crowd. Thanks Mike.
The Blue Dog Band has band has played quite a few venues around Anchorage these last few years and has done quite well. Two years ago we tied with the Ken Peltier Band for the "Number One Country Band" in a local musician newsletter called Gear Junkies, which was pretty awesome. Then, Brook Faulk, this last year came in second for "Best Singer/Vocalist" in the AK Press (Jared Woods came in first). The guitar player for the Blue Dog Band, Zack Roberts, also got second for "Best Gutiar Player" in Anchorage (Jared Woods also got first here).
Every Tues. night, the Blue Dog Band ft. Mike Olson hosts a Open Mic. for anybody that wants to come in and jam. You can either bring in your own instrument and play yourself, or you can borrow an instrument and sit in with the band. Anyone is welcome.
Also, every Wednesday night, it's "Ladies Night" at Eddie's. So if you want to have a couple drinks, learn some line dancing, or just hang out, you should definetly come down to Eddie's. This is host by two local radio DJ's (KBEAR 104.1) Matt Valley and Delanie Parks. So come on down and then stick around to hear the Blue Dog Band with Mike Olson play afterward. My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Brook Faulk- Lead Vocals: Brook started singing here in Alaska around middle of 2005. She did some recording in Nashville, and then came up here clean slate, got a band together and started playing rockin' country music in local bars around Anchorage. She has been singing every since she was little a little kid. Ever since then she has done anything possible to keep on singing. Brook Faulk is the lead singer for the Blue Dog Band and was singing five nights a week. Unfortunately, she had to cut down to two nights a week due to her daughter having seizures. We miss ya Brook!!

Zack Roberts- Lead Guitar, Vocals: Zack originally lives in a small town in Eastern Oregon, but comes to Ancorage about May every year to play guitar for the Blue Dog Band. Last year he started with the Blue Dog Band they first started at Eddie's Sports Bar, but in August he had to attend school in Oregon, so he was absent for nine months and just returned about a month ago. He has been playing for three years and is coming along great. It's great to have him back!

Jimmy Right- Bass, Harmony: Jimmy is a local musician that has been playing around Anchorage for about thirty-five years, and was just recently added to the band and has been an awesome addition. He is one of the most precise and talented bass players we have ever played with. He was with a band at the Fly By Night Club for about nine years. So after they closed, the Blue Dog Band hired him as soon as possible.

Steve McCarthy- Harmonica, Vocals: Steve is also a local musician who has been playing around Ancorage for quite a while. Steve likes long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners... He's always going around town jammin' at local open mic's and is really easy to play with. Steve has been in the band for a little over a year. And ever since we hired him he has always had a smile on his face. We never see him without one. But he has been a great addition, some people consider a harmonica player a luxury, but we definately consider him part of the band.

Mike James- Drums, Poet (jk): Mike is a well talented jazz drummer that the band hired just over a year ago. Mike is one of the most precise clean drummers you'll ever see. He is always helping the band to improve tremendously and has constructive criticim for everyone, which always does help the band move further ahead. He is always looking out for band, wants them to be able to hear what they are doing...and just wants everyone to be relaxed and have a good time. He always knows the material on time and knows it right. Mike has been a great asset to band ever since he joined.
