Them Boys from Buffalo Valley

If yer feet ain't a-movin', yer dead!!!

About Me

Them Boys started a few years ago when Larry (aka Bird OR Toothless) and Kevin got together to do a benefit. From there it took off. They played at such fine establishments as the Green Fly or anywhere they would feed them and give them beer. Then one day they thought they would play while selling junk at the flea market. People started gathering around and then someone set out a mason jar and people started stuffing money in it. On the ride home the idea was hatched to make a CD because everyone asked if we had one. So we did. Then Joe got word that we did a CD and he was "ate up" with jealousy so we decided we needed to make a new one with all three of us (Joe & Kevin have been pickin on & off for longer than we want to admit). We figured as long as we were doing one, we would go ahead and make a Gospel CD as well. We are not fond of the slick Nashville sound and you can tell it on our CDs. Our sound is authentic American roots music (Joe says it is amplified acoustic bluegrass and Stacey agrees). What we do is what they did years ago, play down home music straight from the heart...and other body orifices. We like to have fun and every where we go our goal is to help people enjoy themselves. The more you get into it, the more we do. As it is so eloquently qouted on our CD cover, "If your feet ain't movin', you're dead!!"If you would like to purchase a CD, there are two available. One features classic gospel music such as "Farther Along" and "I'll Fly Away." These are good old classic gospel with a tune that you can recognize. The other CD is the music featured on our page and it includes all-time favorite bluegrass including "Always Marry an Ugly Girl", "Jo-Jo swing" and other classics. Both are reasonably priced at $12.00 which includes shipping. Please contact us through this website or our hotmail address - [email protected]. Thank you for checking out our page, we'd like to hear from you.

Influences: Toothless learned guitar (it is a unique style) from his father, Luke. Luke would take the guitar down from the wall and lay it on the bed before he left the house and tell Toothless, "Now don't touch my guitar, you'll get it all out of tune." He knew full well that he would have to mess with that guitar. Kevin learned banjo from his Uncle Doug. What really got him going was when his Dad told him, "You won't play that thing, after two weeks it will sit in the corner and collect dust." That meant he would either learn to play it or die trying. He has recently taken up the fiddle because he always liked it (but was afraid to try it) and just to make Toothless mad. Joe learned guitar from his Dad who taught him two chords after he retrieved a guitar from a dumpster and fixed it for Joe. He later picked up the bass, mandolin, fiddle and is now learning the banjo (also to make Toothless mad). Most of our influences came from music media but we picked up a lot of stuff from people we knew and played with. We all like a variety of music but what we do is what comes naturally.
Sounds Like: Everyone's Grandpa and Uncle on speed playing the old style music on the front porch (memories). Also, sounds like a lot of fun.CHECK OUT THE VIDEOS TO GET A TASTE OF THEM.
