SAVE THE SHARP FARM FROM EMINENT DOMAIN

The Sharp family of Slatyfork, West Virginia has a rich and storied history. The Sharps are one of Pocahontas County's first settling families. Their roots here reach back more than 300 years , spanning eight generations.Roughly 12 miles e ast of the Slatyfork Sharp Farm is Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Snowshoe is owned by Intrawest Corporation(soon to be owned by Fortress Investment Group LLC), a resort development firm headquartered in Canada. Snowshoe has grown rapidly in recent years, and development has exceeded their current capacity for treating their sewage output.Intrawest hopes to have this facility in order to remedy Snowshoe's sewage woes . And, through the assistance of county and state agencies, the Sharp's farm and Elk River have been selected as the most viable site for the facility's construction. However, the Sharp's farm and Elk River are not for sale. Therefore, proponents are trying to acquire it by eminent domain.

The purpose of this website is to keep that from happening.

There are very good reasons why this shouldn't happen. Here are a few: 1. West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III has offered alternative, nearby public land for the facility's construction. 2. This field is sinkhole-pitted karst geology which is unsuitable for construction. 3.
