Shelly Ose

I was Born in Anchorage, Ak. I am part Athabascan Indian. When I'm not playing music I'm a SignLanguage Interpreter for the Deaf. I come from a very musical and artistic family. My Grandparents traveled in Vaudeville, My Grandfather was the first resident Magician at the "Magic Castle" in L.A. His name was "Jay Ose" He left home at 14; got to travel with Orson Wells; was in television and the movie business. I truly believe my strenght, talent & resillience come from both my Grandfather and my Papa Tony. My Father "Papa Tony" was in the music business. He still is! At 73 he sings like a bird and is playing the local pubs and other events in the Eugne Oregon area. He recorded with DOT records. Wrote and published music with "Bonnie Guitar" who also produced "The Fleetwoods'" and "Ned Miller" who was most famous for the song "From a Jack to a King". One of my Fathers songs was up for an award, sung by Bonnie Guitar it was called "The Tallest Tree" It was supposed to be performed on the Coutry Music Awards show. But at that time it was too controversial. It was about War and during that time the Vietnam War was a hot potical issue; so playing it was out of the question. Other songs Like "Only I" Were covered by Bonnie Guitar & "The Billy Vaughn Singers" Others covered by Bonnie Guitar were "Kickin' Tree" ,"Take A Look" & Many others. My Father recorded "Smoke Drink & play 21" and it hit #1 for a short period of time. From the begining of my music career; I was blessed by the opporitunuty to play music with Alaska's best talent! I followed in my Grandparents foot steps for a while doing musical theater and choreography for UAA and Anchorage Community Theatre. But I'm a better fit with music and musician's. Anchorage has a lot of undiscovered talent! Alaska is a beautiful place to live. I love it here. I have Black Bear in my yard every spring! Moose all year round! Fox, Eagles (which would love to eat my 5 Long Hair Chihuahuas) and many Rabbits! If you haven't come for a visit you need too!
