It all started in September of 2004 with High School classmates Jorge,Steve,and Luigi on Guitar,Mike on Bass,and Ben on Drums.At the time there was no real singer.Many Line-up changes occurred with Steve and Mike switching back and forth between Bass and Guitar and Steve's eventual departure from the band.In the beginning there was a revolving door with singers.First was Frank Ansalone who was a good fit for the band,however he could not commit to a practing schedule due to other activities.Next was Daniel Kornhauser who was also good,but decided to pursue other interests.For a while after that,two female singers fronted the band.Holly Brehm and Carly Peterson were two cousins who knew how to work with each other to create a nice balance between singing and growling. However,soon musical differences forced them to leave the band and Left In Ruins was down to the final four: Jorge Naranjo on Lead Guitar,Mike Velasquez on Bass,Ben Pollicello on Drums and Luigi Cilento on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals. In the summer of 2006,this line-up recorded their first Demo,five songs of pure Thrash/Death Metal fury entitled "Side With The Reaper", "Destruction", "Left In Ruins" , "Not Me" and "Declaration Under Fire". In November of 2006,Mike was away at college and unable to make a couple of shows the band had booked.So Left In Ruins called on their good buddy James from Mahopac,New York Metallers In Restraints to fill in as a Bassist until Mike was able to return.As fate would have it,In Restraints were on the verge of splitting up as their drummer could not commit to being in a band full time.With that,Left In Ruins decided to keep James as a full time Third Guitarist. Within the time James was a member of In Restraints,he shared the stage with many well-known national acts such as Goatwhore,Full Blown Chaos,Powerman 5000,Silent Civilian,Bleed The Sky,God Forbid,Hate Eternal,Remembering Never,In This Moment,Subzero,Trouble, and Marc Rizzo of Soulfly.In October of 2006 James was a guest on MTV 2's Headbanger's Ball with the legendary Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society and the Ozzy Osbourne band. With all the experience James had behind him and all the dedication he has to music,it was an easy decision to make him a part of the Left In Ruins family.Since recruiting James,the band has gone full speed ahead taking part in several compilation albums titled "Sinister Music" which are being distributed by Erin of New York Metal band Sinaria and Mistress Juliya former host of "Slave to the Metal" on Fuse TV.They have been featured on "The Underground Thrashold" and "60 Minutes of Mostly Metal" TV shows.They were featured in the March '07, and Halloween '07 issues of Metal Maniacs magazine and have acquainted themselves with Negative Zero Productions and Blast to the Head Productions. Left In Ruins have shared the stage with national acts such as Subzero, My Bitter End, Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, Goatwhore, 1349, Nachtmystuim, Averse Sefira, Chris Caffery, Doro Pesch, Against The Plagues, Epica, Visions of Atlantis, The Agonist, Cradle of Filth, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Skeleton Witch, Overkill, Dead By Wednesday, Thy Will Be Done, Prong, Behemoth, Gojira, Job For A Cowboy, Beneath The Massacre, Amon Amarth, Himsa, Sonic Syndicate, The Spyderz, Warbringer, Arsis, Exodus, Bloodclot!, 25 Ta Life, Monstrosity, Vital Remains, Mortician and Cthonic. Left In Ruins have recently completed recording their debut album, with Billy Graziadei of Biohazard and Suicide City handling the production duties at Underground Sound Studios in South Amboy, New Jersey. The undeniably heavy, 8 song Death-Thrash opus titled "Straight Out Of Hell" is due to be released VERY soon, so be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled and ready for this metallic slab of brutality to crush all within it's path!
