Starbucks New England and the NEMO Music Festival are bringing back the days when live music was equally as popular at a coffeehouse as sipping a steaming cup of brew. The Starbucks Music Makers Competition offers New England-area musicians the opportunity to showcase their talent in any musical genre.
Submissions will be accepted exclusively through Sonicbids and Semi-Finalists will be accepted based on how café-friendly and original their material is, their ability to demonstrate how active they are in their musical aspirations, and if they possess qualities that are fresh or timeless.
Almost 50 contestants will be selected to perform live at the regional competitions held in select Starbucks stores throughout New England. Five to seven artists will be invited to perform three songs at their designated Semi-Final competition. Four local music industry professionals will be invited to judge at each in-store. These votes will be tallied and added to a 5th public vote, determined through online voting presented by Goombah . One artist from each event will be invited to advance on to the Finals.
Prizes for the 2007 Starbucks Music Makers Competition Semi-Finals include a showcase at the NEMO Music Festival, a $50 Starbucks Card, a $200 American Express gift card from OurStage , space on the Radio Free Goombah Music Player, as well as promotional items from our sponsors. The prize package for the Starbucks Music Makers Competition Finalist includes hotel and airfare to attend the Kauai Music Festival sponsored by BMI , a $500 Starbucks card, two days of studio time with an engineer at Q Division , radio promotion valued at $1,000 courtesy of OurStage and promotion on Radio Free Goombah Free Music Fridays.
