Breaking Laces is a three-piece acoustic/electro indie rock band from Brooklyn that combines stellar songwriting, pure organic musicianship, and subtle electronic splashes to create a sound that is fresh, accessible and at times, mind-blowing.
We dare you to peg them. Come on. Peg ’em. Others have tried - Weezer meets Elvis Costello, Squeeze meets Radiohead, even Martin Sexton meets James Blunt.
Why so hard to peg? Because they are original, yet familiar. They’re real. They are, as Paste Magazine said, "Exactly what indie-rock needs now". They are, as IndieSoundsNY said, "the best live band in the NYC and a f&^%load of fun."
Their new EP, Astronomy is my life, but i love you, was released in October and is now available online and at shows. It is said to contain the rawness of the album that started it all, 2004’s Sohcahtoa and the amp of their last full length, 2005’s wonderfully successful Lemonade.
The Laces have proved that consistently releasing strong records and non-stop touring to clubs, pubs, colleges and rock halls around the country and beyond pays off. Their grass-roots vision and big-time goals have brought their credo into focus: Solid songwriting plus a powerful and energetic live sound equals a loyal following and a firm place in the nation’s list of most promising new acts. Look out!
