About Me

J. Peter Yakel & Flood Road hail from upstate New York, playing an original recipe of “Acoustic FolkGrass” that combines careful measures of Americana, Bluegrass and Folk, seasoned with a pinch of Rock-n-Roll. Their rootsy song mix creates a blend of memorable toe-tappers and eye-weepin’ ballads that are as varied and unpredictable as the northeast seasons. The quartet features Jon “Banjovius” Belcher on banjo, Tom “The Lion” King on mandolin and harmonica, Pete “The Treat” Murphy on bass, and J. Peter Yakel on acoustic guitar and vocals.
Since forming in 2006, the band has played locally and regionally to the enjoyment of their listening audiences. As well, the music of J. Peter Yakel & Flood Road is spinning on a number of broadcast AM/FM and Internet radio stations throughout the U.S. and abroad. Request a song today!

Sorta like when one of the fellers puts a tumbler of the "Oh Be Joyful" down in front of yah. Yah take a swaller, feelin’ its warmth on the way down, an’ yah know it’s a fine drink...at the same time, yah cain’t say right off the bat if it’s JD, Ole Grandad, Maker’s Mark, er Doc Jeckel’s finest...sames with the music...the solo sound has the reminiscin’s of Simon & Garfunkle, The Byrds, The Grateful Dead...the quartet sound is more akin to Americana/folk/bluegrass/country.
J. Peter writes ’em as they come to mind. What comes out is what comes out...
