About Me
The Boohers consist of Gary and Lora Booher, their two sons, Joseph and Jamey Booher. The Boohers make their home in Northeast Tennessee; an area rich in bluegrass, old time and folk music heritage. Though performing as a band for only a few years, The Boohers have quickly gained attention and notoriety across the US. The Booher's are endorsed by Black Diamond Strings Westone In Ear Monitors and Ceder Creek Custome Cases.
---------------Gary Booher has been playing bluegrass music for over 30 years. He began playing guitar at age 14, and was soon introduced to the banjo and bluegrass music. His love for the music and his desire to learn more and play better has kept Gary focused on becoming the excellent songwriter and musician he is today. Gary now sings, plays guitar, banjo, and bass while contributing much of the bands original material. Gary penned more than half the material for The Boohers 2003 CD release In The Mountains. He also host
his own internet bluegrass show on World Wide Bluegrass Radio. Gary endorses Smith Banjo's.
---------------Lora Booher has been happily married to Gary for nearly 22 years, and is the proud mother of Joseph and Jamey. While Loras voice has proven to be one of the most powerful assets in the band, her other talents include playing the guitar, upright bass, managing,
and booking the band. The solid rhythm and very strong vocal ability that Lora contributes to the band seems to be the catalyst that keeps the guys in line and holds it all together. As of August 2006, Lora is a proud endorser of Blueridge Guitars. Lora is also the only female on the Blueridge Guitar musicians list. The band is very proud of her for this great accomplishment!!
---------------Joseph Booher (21) is the oldest son of Gary and Lora. He plays mandolin, upright bass, and contributes to the bands vocals with his rich baritone voice. Joseph has been seriously playing mandolin for seven years and in September 2003, was asked to endorse Dearstone Mandolins. Josephs accomplished musical ability keeps an audience captivated while his creativity adds excitement and flair to the band. His passion for the music projects from Joseph whether on stage or off, as he continuously strives to expand his knowledge and ability. Adam Steffey, 2002, 2003, 2004, & 2005 IBMA Mandolin Player of The Year, refers to Joseph as The Real Deal. Joseph has one solo CD project entitled, Steppin Up.
---------------Jamey Booher (20) is the youngest son of Gary and Lora. He plays upright bass and also contributes to the bands vocals. Although for years Jamey showed no interest in music, at age 14 he began playing bass and quickly excelled in both playing and singing. Jamey has continued to amaze the others on a daily basis. Jamey's humble stage presence often gives an audience a deeper appreciation for his abilities, as they watch him develop into the rock solid foundation of the band. While staying focused on the vision of the band, Jamey strives daily to perfect and expand his vocal and musical talents. Jamey also endorses these great companys: Azola Electric Upright Basses, TKL Deluxe Upright Bass Bags, Gallien Krueger Amps, K&K Sound Systems & Pickups, and Super Sensitive Bass Strings.---------------Josh Doss (18) Coming from the small town of Bluff City, TN, young Josh listened to live bluegrass at his home on Saturday nights. He began playing at 4 years old when his uncle, (Lester Parks), gave him his first guitar. After being shown how to play "Wildwood Flower" along with a few other chords, Josh excelled quickly with love and passion for the instrument. Josh's parents realized his talent and soon bought him a new Martin D-18 guitar which he continues to use. The next few years, Josh performed with local bands, honing his skills as a lead guitarist and bluegrass musician. After hearing of a vacancy for lead guitar with The Boohers, Josh contacted them immediately for an audition. He began performing full time with The Boohers on October 3, 2006. Josh is a 2006 High School Graduate, and is now pursuing his life long dream of a career in bluegrass music. The Boohers are very excited to playing with Josh in the upcoming year!
