This is a fan page dedicated to the Swiss band Yello, consisting of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank, who have been making extraordinary and influential music for nearly 30 years.
They released their first single 'I.T. Splash' in 1979 and their debut lp 'Solid Pleasure' followed in 1980. Originally there were 3 members in the band, the other being Carlos Peron - since the early 80's the line-up has consisted of Dieter and Boris only.
Their first great breakthrough came in 1983. 'You Gotta Say Yes To Another Excess', released on Stiff Records, was critically acclaimed as a classic of electronic music. Thus began a run of amazing lps and singles throughout the 80's. The track 'Oh Yeah', from the 1985 album 'Stella', became one of their most well known songs.
In 1986 they released the classic double album, '80-85 The New Mix In One Go', followed in 1987 by another acclaimed album 'One Second'.
Then in 1988 they suddenly scored their biggest hit single with 'The Race', taken from the album 'Flag'. Their profile was never higher than at this point in their career.
In the 1990's they continued to release great lp's, beginning with 'Baby' in 1991. Like the two previous albums this also featured vocals from Billy Mackenzie, singer with the pioneering Scottish band The Associates and solo artist in his own right. His amazing voice only added to the magic of their music. 'Pocket Universe', released in 1997, is their most forward looking album of this period. Mention must also go to 'Motion Picture' from 1999, which contained the wonderful single 'Squeeze Please'.
In 2003 their most recent album 'The Eye' was released. The opening track 'Planet Dada' was an instant Yello classic, proving that their ability to stun the listener with imagination and incredible production had not deserted them. Now in 2007 we, the fans, await their forthcoming lp with great anticipation. Why? Because they are total originals who are always worth waiting for. Their aren't many left these days after all...Stop press 2007!! Yello are releasing a c.d. of their music for the new Audi car adverts. Hopefully this will be widely available!
