About Me

The lyrical legacy of Rochester New Yorks Hafiz began in 1996 under his first alias, Ransom Chi with Wu Tang Clans The Gza, Mobb Deep and Nas as strong musical influences. Writing became his way of coping with the frustration of no father figure and a lack of financial support. A brief stint with drug dealing proved not to be the life that this MC of Puerto Rican decent was destined to be defined by. Music pulled Hafiz towards a bond that gelled him and his partner MoProducto to record their first songs. Using a primitive studio set up of a double-deck cassette recorder and a microphone, they recorded their first songs in one take over their favorite instrumental tracks. After perfecting this method , they began acquiring the necessary equipment to produce the music that more established local artists deprived them of. With MoProducto rapidly advancing as his primary producer, Hafizs intense poetics evolved from boastful rhymes to conceptual wordplay. After spending numerous years perfecting his craft, Hafiz has leaped out of hibernation , completely polished, and ready to dominate your attention span. He comes equipped with an eight song EP titled Keys Of Death that reflects his well-read mental, compassion for the oppressed, and infatuation for pure Hip Hop. He has rocked Rochester crowds into a frenzy at countless venues such as Penny Arcade, Milestones, Montage Music Hall, The Bug Jar, Java Joes and even the now defuncted Irondequoit Mall. His adrenaline-crazed stage performance has given birth to a cult following, demands for collaborations, college radio support, and the development of his full length CD, The Wil of God. Aside from making his song catalogue multiply, Hafiz is planning to perform threw out the United States and the world. He is one of the few artists willing to trade sleep for self promotion, with the ability to sell sand at the beach. As a red hot unsigned talent, Hafiz is in search for radio play, interviews, music reviews and a recording contract. His main requirement for a record deal is creative control. The reason for this is best summed up in his own words, I do this for the cause, not just because!
