I am a 20 year old DJ from Moseley, Brum town with a deep love for Drum n Bass
I started out DJing when I was 15 buyin commercial hip hop. As my taste developed I started gettin into earlier underground Hip Hop, from about 89- 95/96. Even Though I dont listen too it very often any more I will always have a love for the genre, and if someone asked me to play a hip hop set today i’d jump to the chance. Favorite Artists are: Biggie, Eminem (early stuff), A Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr, Nas, Cypress Hill, Rakim, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Wu-Tang, 2Pac, and so on and so fourth.
As soon I he was old enough to go out to raves, my taste rappidly changed from hip hop into a scene that I knew I could make an impact on. Drum And Bass.
My first ever set was at a warehouse party not long after NYE 2004/05, and after gettin a feel for the shit I knew I could go somewhere with it. the scene was Vibrant, there were a lot of new faces, and the raves back then were heavy. It was all about Autumn @ the Custard Factory. I got into flyering work with a mate because he could get me in the raves on the guest list, and when the chance arose I took it up as my weekend Job. I flyer for Raveology, and as a result I became a resident there. I have been working For Magika and Jo now for just under 2 years.
Other events I have played at are: DNB Awards, Bassmans Birthday, V Cycle, Reborn, Disk-Connected, Ignition, Beatdown and Sqaure Roots.
Around June last year I went about creating my own night. It had been a dream that me and DJ Assasin had been talking about for years, and not getting round to doing, so I decided i’d finally get it started. Taking Assasin on board to help me with the finance and the promotion, we have created a night called Dilated City. It is a night which focuses on uprising talent on the jump up scene, and is held at a 200 capacity venue called O.C.s in Digbeth. The first few events have been succesfull enough for the night to continue, and with a bit of luck and hard work it will hopefully become established as a Regular DnB event in Birmingham.
