Well it all started back @ school borrowing these Rave tapes such as Stu Allen, Carl Cox, Donovan bassline smith, Grooverider, Fabio, Mickey Finn, Jumping Jack Frost, Sy, Ratty + Tango +many more. But just too young to get in these places that all our older friends were off to like: Fantazia, Amnesia, Eclipse, Helter Skelter, Bangin Tunes, Dreamscape, Raindance. which i collected all flyers off them when they used to come back a bit worse for wear! Years went on i got older borrowed more tapes which some i have not returned sorry boys! If you can remember what they are you can have them back. Then that was it, it was my turn to start raving Quest had come about in wolverhampton in 91. It was the end of 92 i was still 15 yrs old. My mates Dean and Mark AKA The Dubba'z and Bryan took me up in there mini, with Carl Cox 3 dek bizness Book of Love pumping out of the speakers. Quest!, It was bad well badder than bad and there ent been a club like it since. Dark as you like, Soon it was every month we would go up and then that turned into every week. Just couldn't get enough of it. Meet some special people along the way aswell in that place. then it closed down Gutted! Then we moved on to Mr B's in wallsall where the vibe carried on. Thats where i meet a Gezza called Dubplate with dreads down past his waist nearly to his knees with a big gold chain and had a vinyl as a medallion, i used to see him at quest and thats how we connected. Me and him used to clear a space when we got down on the dance floor. He introduced me to Bassman + Ranski 1 night and danced upon the stage alongside them while mickey pussy clot finn was on the deck's, what a fucking honour!. But i have lost contact over the Years with Dubplate. If ya reading this DUBPLATE get in touch M8. So naturally i got into mixing after going to raves and because my mates Ram and Lewi B were the 1st to get decks. Ram used to be at Uni down south so when he used to come back he would bring some bad tunes back with him like: Ma2, Lighter, Special Dedication, Fire, Helicopter Tune, Valley of Shadows, Style, + many more. We used to spend hours upon hours mixing there would be Myself, Ram, Furr, Salmon, Paddy + Lewi B. I was the last 1 to pick it up, but i will always remember my 1st proper mix i did and i thought to myself Fuck me I'm Mixing, It was MA2 and Lighter round at Lewi B's house while the tunes were in the mix i had a grin on my face from ear 2 ear. And still have the same feeling now when i buy new tunes and get them home. Me and Furr went raving down @ Wembley can't remember what the night was called i think 1 Nation/ Pure X (too many rave's and too many sweets). Anyway that is the place where a man called Stephen Rose, AKA Dj Rukus crossed my path. (The birth of the Kellakus,) Grooverider was upon the decks tearing the roof off i was going for it brocking out so too was Rukus and we brocked out together not even knowing each other," Thats D+B 4 Ya ", after many hours had pasted we found out we were both from the same town Kidderminster, Next day we meet up in the Land Oak for a drink, after havin many hours of sleep from the tough tough night before. Ruk invited us back for a mix @ his moms house Ahhhhh, My 1st go on 1210's i felt out of my depth as i was only used to sound labs direct drive 150's. Which i need Thank Toni-Jayne for making it poss for me to have my 1st set of decks. Anyway so i sat back and watched him mix he killed it, And he introduced me to the darker side of D+B, as i liked the Jump up side at that point. From there on i would go round mixing when ever i had spare time, A wicked friendship had come about, He then introduced me to a man called Adam AKA Dj Unison, He put his own night on and they were @ the lion hotel in kiddy Rukus told me to come down and i could have a mix on the end of his slot, Which i did and stepped up Nervous a fuck, Had a funny look off Dj Unison to say who the fuck is that. So i mixed Warhead and Turbulance, And it went sweeeeet. After that they took me in as one of the krew, there i meet many more wicked people who had the same passion for this music as myself. From there on i got involved with putting nights on called Electric Kingdom going all over the Midlands. And still going strong to this present day. Repect going out to all the E.K Krew you know who you are. Also i play for Arcane and Terminal Sound up black country way.Deuce in stourport thanks to adam. Vibe at worcester Thanks to Taylor and Elements in Droitwich Thanks to Sy Vader. Also won Battle Of The Dj's in 2005 and came 2nd in 2006. And as you read this i'm currently in some studio bizness with Rukus, so when we do Tingz in Unison it's produces the Kellakus and our sounds are being engineered by DJ UNISON (E.K) . meerkat productions.
