Barnyard Fury is an acoustic band with six regular members, most of them with their roots in Southern Valleys. The members have been playing together on and off in different settings for almost three decades. Rock, ska, punk, pop and bluegrass has been on the repertoire and the band likes to blend all these genres into a delightful mixture, familiar and yet not! It’s not unusual that the band sometimes brings on guest artists, the band has amongst others made appreciated gigs together with the bluesman Pelle Lindström .
Barnyard Fury blends known and unknown songs from other bands with own material. It can be both joy and melancholy from artists like Niel Young, Motörhead, Stones or Dylan, just to mention a few of the ones, ground down in their acoustic mill. With guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin, bass and percussion they exhort some kind of alternative country and old blues – laced with a dipper of dark river.
Due to each member’s different personality and preferences the band often performs music that collides with itself. The mandolin duels with a harmonica. The beautiful rubbing against the rough, the cheerful rumbles in to melancholy. What comes out can be described as a musical serial collision – accompanied by the banjo.
'Ace of spades' at the Smeltinghouse, Coppervalley 28-04-2007The band improvises a great deal and often picks up an unrehearsed number. That way they manage to add some of their own exploration joy, which hopefully reaches out to the audience.
