Bio
Gingerjake is one of those rare breeds of hot female-led bands that have found continued success in the Rock Music scene by way of a hard-knocks grass roots approach, rather than the Mickey Mouse Club/American Idol route. They've been described as ‘the perfect blend of beauty and brutality’ by fans and critics alike.
Lead singer Amanda Harris' unique style, over the top stage presence and ability to melodically seduce the listener has yielded comparisons to some of the top female rock singers of all time. David Castell, Producer for Blue October, has said her vocal range and abilities rival that of Heart's Ann Wilson. "Ian [Severson] is one of the most unique guitar players around, and a rhythm section composed of identical twins results in a tightness that most bands just don't haveâ€. Joe and Eric Rotter, the identical Geminis that make up the backbone of the air tight rhythm section, read each other in a way only twins can and coupled with Ian's smorgasbord of face-melting riffage and Amanda's world class rock star persona, this band is well on their way to becoming a household name world-wide.
Gingerjake has shared the stage with the likes of Chevelle, Papa Roach, Jerry Cantrell and Alice in Chains, P.O.D., Soil, Hoobastank, Machina, Burden Brothers, Sum 41, Taproot, Otep and Kitty to name a few.
They began their recording history in October 2003, when Gingerjake journeyed to Orange County, CA where they hooked up with Producer/Engineer Cameron Webb, who has engineered albums for 311, Godsmack and Motorhead and produced So Cal punk legends Social Distortion. They returned with the blistering six song Paralysis E.P. Released independently in March 2004, the band kicked it off by packing The Quest Club in Minneapolis to almost capacity. The Single "Karats" quickly received airplay on 93X's prime time audience judged "Cage Match" with Gingerjake being crowned "retired champions" as they beat out national acts for the entire week. Since its release, the E.P. has repeatedly sold out of pressings.
Gingerjake's new LP, How to Kiss the Devil Goodbye, released June 15th, 2007 sold out of it's first pressing in the first 2 Months of release. The new record has airplay and internet streams around the Midwest, and across the U.S.
Gingerjake has distribution with all major online distributors through IODA and is distributed to retail record stores via Electric Fetus Onestop .
Gingerjake's music has been featured in numerous compilation releases as well as action sports movie soundtracks such as Braap and Slednecks.
Always one step ahead, Gingerjake has been hard at work in Los Angeles, CA where they've taken a number of trips over the past few months where they've begun writing for yet another full length record.
Gingerjake's tour plans for 2008 consist of several midwest shows in early '08, followed by a SXSW appearance in March with US dates before and after to continue touring in support of their recent release. (View the calendar for full tour schedule)
