About Me
Boris Strbac, born in Croatia 41 years ago. Had a normal life until 1991-1992; played the music, went to school en worked. Then the war came and I went to Holland. It was 15 years ago. Spent a lot of time just looking for the new life. I had to do the same steps again in my life. Finally I started to play again. On this site you can hear two projects of me with different people (friends). All my life I have listened to the music. My roots are Hendrix, Allman Brothers Band, Cream.....good rock/blues music. When I was 14-15 years because of my brother I heard Weather Report. It was the beginning of the new age in my life. After that I started to listen ECM, Oregon, Ralph Towner, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal, Egberto Gismonti, Keith Jarret, Pat Metheny (Travels is second the most important moment for my development), Abercrombie, Eberhard Weber, Scofield, Frisell (also very important), Miles Davies (I started with Decoy)......later I went back in the past, Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Joe Pass, Jimmy Hall, Coltrane, Webster, Molbey, Mingus, Gordon Dexter, Davies, Evans, ....than Maldhau, Wakenius, Marsalis, McLaughlin, Piazolla, Tomatito, Paco,......there are so many great musician. Also listening to Sting, Diana Krall, Madeleine Peyroux, Clapton, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, James Brown, Defunkt......
Because of the war most of my friends and family are living in different countries. The First project is made by using the computer to exchange the files. I put the two songs written by me(Der Kopf vol habben together jamming with my brother). The album "Recollection"has 12 songs, three written by my brother Goran (Spain), nine by me. Programming done by my old friend (now) from England Koko(Ratko Zjaca thanks for support). I find it a good project, because after two years I am able to hear it again with the pleasure in my car.
The second one is something that I did with Hilly and Ben (my Dutch friends), just trying to enjoy it playing live,what was impossible with "Recolletion"project (differents places and daily life responsabilities).
Also I would like to thank Caroline and Peter for "Timeless" project and time spent together. Because Caroline already put this project on myspace, I did not use the songs that we played together. Maybe we will meet each other again....
I like to see a good movie (Tarkovsky,Wenders, Polanski, Kusturica, Bergman, Bunuel, Triffaut, Felinni, Jarmusch, von Trier.....), to read good books.....my profession is accountancy/bookkeeping.
I hope you like it. I would like to get your feedback on my music, and of course to make a new friends. Maybe it could be our new project....
