About Me

Musician/Songwriter and recording artist Rick Sparfven was born in Providence Rhode Island and grew up in several small towns throughout New England. This native from the north was sold on the southern style back beat of the Allman Brothers at a young age and had influenced not only his playing as well as his song writing but had also inspired him to form the Farnum Mayweather band,a seven piece southern rock freight train that for seven years had rocked the northeast. After Mayweather he then turned his full attention from southern blues to jazz and though the genre as well as influences have changed, this beast from the east has made the transition seem effortless. Rick claims he owes much of his bass playing talent and song writing ability's to the great creative musicians that have surrounded him in the past as well as the present. "Being able to communicate only by musical notation at the point of it's origin and to be spontaneous is very special, this in itself breeds creativity" he says. His first solo music adventure began in Boynton beach Florida and all though a learning experience it became a stepping stone for what was to become the beginning of many such creative works. His latest the Rick Sparfven Project along with his solo album Brittany Michelle is set for release in the fall of 08", Purgatory Road is due to be recorded in Nashville and released sometime in 09"The Rick Sparfven Project is lite to progressive jazz, to learn more and check out Rick Sparfven's Farnum Mayweather Band" go to Ricksparfven.com
