About Me

Hello John Lennon fans!
A bit about me...
I first heard of John the morning after his death. I was 10 years old in 1980, and I remember like it was yesterday turning on the TV the morning of 9 December 1980, and seeing the entire world mourning the loss of such a wonderful man and musician. I was instantly drawn to him, and after having a listen to "Double Fantasy," I thumbed through my parents' collection and found some Beatles' albums, and the rest is history. I seemed to be the only person in my Junior High and High School who even knew who The Beatles and John Lennon were, but I didn't care. It wasn't just his music, either. It was how he thought; how he felt; how he viewed the world. I felt like I had finally connected with someone so similar to myself. The unique thing about John was that he truly touched people not just with his music, but with his life.

IN HIS OWN WRITE
A must-have for any Lennon fan's collection! John describes his book:
About The Awful
I was bored on the 9th of Octover 1940 when, I believe, the Nasties were still booming us led by Madolf Heatlump (who only had one). Anyway they didn't get me. I attended to varicous schools in Liddypol. And still didn't pass -- much to my Aunties supplies. As a member of the most publified Beatles my (P, G, and R's) records might seem funnier to some of you than this book, but as far as I'm conceived this correction of short writty is the most wonderfoul larf I've every ready. God help and breed you all.
JOHN & YOKO: A NEW YORK LOVE STORY
This book was just released on what would have been John's 67th birthday (9 October 2007), and I am simply in awe of it. It's a very large hardbound book full of amazing photographs of John and Yoko, along with commentary by author/photographer Allan Tannenbaum. They capture John and Yoko upclose and very personal in what turned out to be the final months of his life. Also included are photos of John's last public appearance on stage and other photos from the time. This is such an amazing book and private look into John and his life. I'm so glad Mr. Tannenbaum shared these photos and his story with all of us.
LENNON LEGEND
This book by James Henke is a wonderfully illustrated and extensively researched biography of John Lennon. Created with the cooperation of Yoko Ono, this 60+ page hardbound book comes in a handsome slipcase and features 40 removable inserts of reproductions of John's handwritten song lyrics, drawings, personal papers and other memorabilia. A treasure trove of Lennon artifacts, this volume traces his life from his birth, his early years at art school, his first musical instrument, the genesis of the Beatles through the group's huge fame and fortune, onward to the Plastic Ono Band and "Imagine" and the remainder of his life with Yoko in New York City. We found the copies of John's everyday doodles and scribbling, school report cards, handwritten notes to reveal many sides of his personality not usually found in other bios.
THE NEW YORK YEARS
This is a fabulous book full of rare and amazing photographs by friend and photographer, Bob Gruen. It documents not only John, but Yoko as well, during their struggles in the early 70's and beyond. The famous "New York tee" photo session is included with many outtakes from that day. One of my favourite books!
And the book I treasure more than any other that I've ever read or known:
THE PLAYBOY INTERVIEWS
I read this book in late 1983, at age 13, and it forever changed my life. David Sheff interviewed John and Yoko and was the only journalist to take John through his songs, one by one, to get John's personal insight into who, why, and how each song was written. John discusses his childhood, his fears, his views of politics and the world, and to me, this book IS John.
