I grew up with the sounds of the mid to late 50's and early 60's and was a great lover of music from as far back as I can remember. After seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964, I knew that I had to have a guitar and start a band. So the process of learning began..I was blessed with a good ear and never learned to read music. There was a great system of networking in those early years since most every guy wanted to play, we would all teach each other songs or chords we had learned. Soon the garage band thing was happening which evolved into more serious bands. I love thinking back to the innocence of those early years.
I started to dabble in songwriting in the early '70's. I bought a Tandberg sound on sound reel to reel tape deck and began recording songs, adding multiple guitar parts and vocal harmonies.
As time passed I played in a couple of bands. I was a founding member of the AIR Band which lasted for a few years and later teamed up with bandmate Jim Robertson as the acoustic duo Abbott and Robertson.
It was in 1984 that I met Matthew Costello and we hit it off immediately. I had never collaborated with anyone before and soon we wrote and recorded our first song.....and the magic was obvious. (Well, with the names Abbott and Costello you know there had to be something special happening.) We have been working together on and off since.
All of the songs featured on this site are either written by me or collaborations with Matthew. The recordings were done at Matthew's home recording studio.
I play acoustic and electric guitar and sing lead and harmony vocals. Matthew is a wizard on the keyboard and computer and provides all the rest of the sounds through his magic.
I also enjoy making videos with my digital camera, playing cover songs of some of my old favorites. You can find them in My Videos. Please feel free to drop by anytime and have a look in the "video vault ". I'll be adding videos every so often as time allows.
