The Horrible Flowers

R.I.P. CLIFF, JACKSON, & FRANK

About Me

The Horrible Flowers were formed as a four piece band in Hollywood during the Fall of 1981. Led by Cliff Hanger (the Germs) and Jackson Weir III (391, Seizure, Rik L Rik) the band relocated to Kansas City as a three piece in the late Spring of 1982 and did shows in and around the KCMO area that Summer before the sudden death of Hanger (whose real name was Paul Wilkerson.) Though Weir would return to his native San Francisco and use the name with various line-ups before his passing in 2002, the first three tracks on this profile (which were recorded on a boom-box during a rehearsal at Fortress Studios in Hollywood) are the only known document of the original band. The fourth track titled "I DON'T WANT YOU TO GO", is another original "Flowers" tune that was covered on the 1989 Midnight records LP "Herrera & The Handouts." Photos and other recordings are currently being sought from those in KC who remember the band.
