DJ GILBERT

It's all about the TWISTED filth!!!!!!!!

About Me

Dj Gilbert began djing around 12 years ago, at this time heavily into the drum and bass scene that had evolved from the early 90’s hardcore warehouse parties. He could be found most weekends in warehouse parties all over the country such as World Dance and One Nation or djing at local parties organised by friends. As the music changed in late 96 so did Dj Gilbert. The summer of 97 after spending some time in Ibiza his love of house music began. The night that completely changed him was an epic set by Danny Rampling at Pacha. On returning the UK instead of his usual haunts he could be found at clubs such as Passion and Godskitchen. At the beginning of 98 he scored his first residency at a weekly night called Squeeze in his hometown of Northampton. This successful nights highlight was a warm up set to Marshall Jefferson, one of the pioneers of the house scene. On the back of this he started to pick up gigs at most of the bars in the town and surrounding area. His style was to keep the music funky with a tougher edge reflecting his roots. Mid 2002 he picked up a monthly residency at another club in the town called Fever, he still retains this residency today 4 years on. During this time he’s had the pleasure of playing alongside dj’s such as, Norman Jay, Axwell, Jo Mills, Basement Jaxx, Tayo, The Trophy Twins and Eric Kupper. During this time he was renound for pushing the music forward in his sets with plenty of classic tunes thrown in to keep the crowd going. Heavy influences at this time include, Steve Lawler, Chris Lake, Richard Dinsdale, Deepgroove to name a few. As well as this he has picked up plays at Casafunk. At the beginning of 2006 himself and fellow resident James Mozolewski decided the city needed a new monthly night to cater solely for the music the pair had been pushing and Twisted Filth was born. This monthly Friday caters only for electro house and breaks with guest dj’s such as Tayo, Micky Slim and Filthy Rich is proving to be one of the most successful nights in the midlands today. James continues to run this night while Dj Gilbert sets his sights further a field pushing his trade in the far east where he has picked up a residency at one of Shanghai's most famous clubs Park 97 as well as guest slots around China and Thailand.
