“Twice,†the rap/pop/songwriting group officially formed in July of 2005 with the help of Erik Bradley, programming director at B96FM Chicago. “Twice†members, Danny Jay and Eric J both came to Bradley around the same time with their demo tapes requesting his opinion. Separately, Danny Jay had been rapping and producing with three albums of his own, and Eric J was putting out mix-tapes with other rappers from around the country. It was “EB†who put them together. “It was almost like fate,†proclaims Jay.
Soon after meeting one another, they formed their duet “Twice,†and began producing, writing and recording songs. Together they accomplished a rare task of creating a new
genre where rap, reggae, dancehall, pop, a touch of doo-wop and
remarkable songwriting all combine into something totally fresh. Despite busy schedules, the two managed to write and record three singles under their name. One of the songs “No More†features major label reggaeton artist Francisco “Frankie†Perez from Puerto Rico.
A year after forming the group, Eric moved to Los Angeles to pursue his endeavors on the west coast as Jay continued producing and going to school at Columbia College.
It was out in L.A. that Eric met Jamaican singer Sean Kingston. Kingston, who’s single “Beautiful Girls†is now hitting the charts and on heavy rotation, sang a hook on a track with Eric J. Now, “Twice†has plans to finish the track and release it to radio stations in Chicago. Danny Jay and Eric are also currently working on producing beats for several other Major artists and upcoming new artists.
On Sunday, June 24th, Eric Jay and Twice Chicago ripped up the "Stars of Tomorrow" stage @ the 2007 B96 Pepsi Summer Bash! Eric Jay has now Shared the stage with Performers such as Sean Kingston, Akon, T-Pain, Rhianna, Gym Class Heros, Baby Bash, Twista, Soundmaster T and Jah Rista. On October 1st, 2007, Eric will release his 2nd cd which will be a mixtape. The name of the Mixtape is "ONE LAST CHANCE." The Mixtape is true life story of Music coming straight from experience. So Keep checking back for new songs and updates, including The "Shorty got Back" Track featuring Sean Kingston, a new joint That Eric Jay has been performing throughout the Chicagoland area.
