Bret “Epic” Mazur has worked as a Producer, Writer, Mixer and Re-mixer for some of the worlds most renowned artists, selling millions of records worldwide. As a number one artist himself, he was a founder of one of the most successful musical groups of this generation. It is only fitting that the world finally be introduced to the mind behind all of this music. His diverse musical experience has given him the ability to fuse cutting edge pop, hip hop, dance, electronic, rock, r&b into a sound that is all his own. Due out in 2008, Get ready to “Strip To This”
Originally from Brooklyn, New York and then raised in L.A, his life experiences in both cities would help to mold the east and west coast sounds that are so evident in his music. Starting out as a drummer Epic was influenced by all music that had a great beat or rhythm. He got his first set of turntables and a mixer at 13 years old and by 16 was already DJ-ing at parties and clubs in L.A. that he wasn't even old enough to get in to. Epic attended the same High School as “Everlast” and “Danny Boy” from House of Pain, Brad (the drummer) from “Rage Against the Machine” and “Ice Cube”. “We were all actually friends too and all committed to a life in music.” Says Epic of the experience, and he certainly was. By age 19 he found himself working in the studio with Dr. Dre, Eazy E and The Black Eyed Peas.
Epic went on to have huge success with the production team "Wolf & Epic" who’s music is known around the world by producers and DJs who are still inspired by their work with BELL BIV DEVOE, NEW EDITION, PRINCE and MC LYTE, just to name a few. Many credit Epic as one of the founding fathers of what we call today the "REMIX".
Wanting to throw his hat into the ring as an artist he created CRAZYTOWN. They toured extensively and had an amazing 5 year run. Crazytown went number 1 in over 14 countries with their album "The Gift Of Game" and sold 5 million records. Their hit single “Butterfly,” sold over 4 million records worldwide. “All the world wide touring I did with Crazytown was a huge inspiration to me, I fell in love with many parts of the world and got an amazing education as to what makes a WORLDWIDE hit record. It’s now the right time for a solo record. ”
Epic went on to form the PHARMACY along with partner Kraig Tyler. A Production company that has also sold records in the millions, a number that continues to grow daily with placements on the latest chart topping record for “THE PLAIN WHITE T'S” and other currently charting as well as up and coming albums from WYLDE BUNCH, RAMA DUKE, SHIFTY, TARYN MANNING, LIL JOHN/LIL SCRAPPY, XIBIT and more.
The Album, titled “Strip To This,” is the sound of one of modern music’s most influential artists and producers, stripped solo. Due out in the spring of 2008, “Strip To This” is a montage of Hip Hop, Rock and Electronica, that’s simply mind blowing from start to finish. Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready to "Strip To This".
