Since 1995, Adam Hannibal (aka Kasm) has covered the spectrum of breakbeat influenced music from drum & bass, downtempo, afrobeat, dub and broken beat styles. Playing alongside acts as diverse as Amon Tobin, Coldcut, Clifford Gilberto, Spooky, Dieselboy, Luke Vibert, Thomas Bangalter and Banco de Gaia, Kasm’s sets are known to bind and adapt to different crowds and environments. As one of the original founders of Balanced and current label manager, Kasm has been integral to the label’s growth and identity since day one. His discography on Balanced includes tracks from Northern Faction 1 & 2, Solidaze Sessions, Pleasure from Precision Remixed and Link Pins. Recent projects include a remix of the Iraqi French troupe Aiwa on Wikkid Records, forming Leaf System, the new dub influenced trio with Rise Ashen and The Seed Organization and partnering with an eclectic mix of Manitoba musicians to create the Maestro Ayahuasquero project which is based on the songs of a Peruvian shaman. He also co-hosts Quadrafunk with Rob Coles, a weekly radio show on CKUW which has been on the airwaves since 1999.
