Vasco Duarte Abranches Studied Classical Guitar with Walter Lopes, Francisco Abreu, Sofia Sequeira, João Duarte, Carlos Gutkin, Antonio Jorge Goncalves in Academia de Amadores de Música, Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa, Escola de Música de Linda-a-Velha and Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. Had private lessons with Dejan Ivanovic .Studied Counterpoint with Helena Rita, Harmony with João Madureira and Analysis with Vasco Azevedo and Sérgio Azevedo. Participated in several master classes, with many performers, such as Eduardo Isaac, Paulo Vaz de Carvalho, Alberto Ponce and Flores Chaviano. Played for Laura Young, Hopkinson Smith and Shuko Shibata. Played many times solo and in chamber music ensemble, like with the pianist Ricardo Sá Leão (performing the Famous Adagio from "Concierto d' Aranjuez") ,and the flutist Nuno Inácio. Worked Chamber Music with the teachers Jorge Machado and Nuno Inácio. Made Premiere performances of Pieces never Played in Portugal like from the composer Stephen Dodgson and Nikita Koshkin. Worked several times with Teatro da Cornucópia working with the Guitarrists Carlos Gutkin and Fernando Guiomar, with the composers Carlos Marecos and João Madureira. Made arrangements for the classical guitar over a research made by Manuel Morais. Played Guitar in a Camões poetry recital with Diogo Dória. Worked with Produções Próspero (Valerie Braddell) in the W.S. Play "Romeu and Juliet" , performing solo live music created by João Gil, touring all over Portugal. Played in Radio and TV Programs. Also worked with the Painter Dinara Dindarova Pereira, in Live Performances where Music (pieces from Léo Brouwer, Isaac Albéniz, Nikita Koshkin, J.K.Mertz, Vasco Abranches, etc.) inspires the Painter, giving shape and colours to the canvas. Vasco is a Classical Guitar Teacher in Conservatório de Alhandra, Setúbal and Cascais.
Last few years has devoted himself on the writing of music for solo guitar, small ensembles and songs. The Music posted here to listen is an example of some of his compositions.
