Exit's Army

"Exit State simply loves rock!"
That's what founder member; singer and co-songwriter Roy Bright will tell you about the band.
"We love listening to it, we love reading about it, we love talking about it but most importantly we love playing it."
Hailing primarily from the familiarly disconsolate surroundings of an East Lancashire mining town UK, Roy Bright (vocals/guitars), Adam Stephenson (guitars), Graham Storton (bass guitar/vocals) & Peat Hicks (drums/vocals) finalised a line-up during late July 07 that allowed each band member to collectively write and perform music that gives them the same great feeling they get when listening to music created by their favourite artists.
It will come as no surprise to any listener who enjoys their rock as much as this band that they draw influences from such greats as Foo Fighters, Metallica, Faith No More, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Guns 'n' Roses, Aerosmith, Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Therapy?, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Weezer, Nirvana, The Smiths, Cave-In, Pantera, Dinosaur Jr, the lions, the tigers, the bears….oh my!!
So how do they sound? Well, if Metallica decided to join forces with the Foo Fighters & Therapy, then asked Mike Patton to front the resulting band, then you wouldn't be a million miles away from where Exit State are coming from.
The tracks on their current EP, 'Saviour, Death of a Rockstar & One of my Bad Days' demonstrate this perfectly; a sound that combines the melodic qualities of indie with the innovation of rock and the power of metal.
Such a collaboration has renewed each member with a vigour for live performances that has seen the guys attempt to play as many shows as humanly possible saving only a fraction of the year for "repairing" relationships (oh dear!) Have I mentioned Exit State love rock? Well they do!!
"Playing live and playing live well is of paramount importance to us. We try our best in the recording studio to deliver our sound with the same energy and enthusiasm that the live shows do and we feel we have achieved that, but its live where the most fun can be had with Exit State" - Adam
Drawing on earlier successes with Roy's band deponeye (that secured two tracks onto 2004's smash hit driving destruction game Flatout on PS2/XBOX and PC platforms and the resulting attention from Revolver Records before the bands split) Exit State are ready to take their music to the next level in a bid to be on the world music stage.
2008 is their year – try telling them its not.
