23 year old Jordan Layne Bourland was one of the original members of the "super group" Jerusalem Ridge at The Roanoke Rapids Theatre in Roanoke Rapids, NC. There he played guitar (electric and acoustic), mandolin and banjo.
On stage he never fails to captivate the audience with his seemingly effortless playing while entertaining them with his energetic and commanding stage presence. Upon first listen, his ability to play any style of music becomes instantly clear. From driving bluegrass, to big band, contemporary Christian, and classic country, there is something for everyone.
Over the years Jordan has had the opportunity to play at the same events as many of the world's best. Among those are Switchfoot, Charlie Daniels, Ronnie Milsap, Rhonda Vincent, IIIrd Tyme Out, Mountain Heart, CTA, Larry Cordle, Tracey Lawrence, Lori Morgan, John Anderson, Steven Curtis Chapman, Ray Price, The Oak Ridge Boys and many more.
Jordan has been teaching professionally for several years now, and has passed his knowledge on to hundreds of students. In the spring of 2008 he advanced his rapidly growing business by opening the Jordan Layne Bourland - Studio of Music & Arts in Roanoke Rapids, NC. At the studio, lessons were taught by Jordan for guitar, mandolin, banjo, and Dobro in all musical styles. In addition to this, Jordan had several other teachers in art, theatre, voice and just about any instrument available.
Growing tired of the music "business" Jordan and his wife, Rebecca, decided to move back to South Carolina and settle down to a full time teaching career. Jordan currently teaches at a private studio in Boiling Springs, SC and in Greer, SC. Click here to see what some of Jordan's past and present students have to say about him.
Jordan has announced that a follow up recording to his Back Porch Hymns CD will be released in the fall of 2008. "Back Porch Hymns - More Old Time Favorites" will continue the series of easy listening, traditional arrangements of your favorite bluegrass gospel songs and hymns.
While living previously in Greenville, SC Jordan's Bluegrass Jam Camps created quite a stir within the local bluegrass community. After the great success of his first camp he received many submissions from students wishing to be a part of it. Shortly after this he received the call to move to Roanoke Rapids and was unable to continue these camps. However, now that he has relocated to the area there are already plans for the next camp. If you are interested in joining one of these camps please contact Jordan here .
Jordan has developed instructional material that has been used for the jam camps, and by a large majority of his students, and is also available for your purchase. To learn more about these materials click here .
