MALFLEUR

Beautiful, yet deadly...like the Cobra.

About Me

Ah, yes...'how did MALFLEUR come to be' they will ask one day. It began with Idle Rich deciding, as his band for many years theAGENCY was coming to a close, that it was indeed time for him to pick up the guitar and play not only for pleasure and the occassional riff to sing along with, but for the realisation of his long-held dream to front a new band, a bona-fide Rock-Trio. When Rich's dream began to manifest itself he was already singing for the five-piece he'd started with BlackSmiths bandmates, The GREAT FLOOD. He'd bring his guitar to practice chords before GreatFlood rehearsals and soon he was hashing out song ideas of a different sort from his previous bands, perhaps more like the JohnnyCash-fast hard-rock of his band in the ninties, BOSS302 than theAgency's proto-metal/punk-crossbreeding...but even different still. Scott from theGreatFlood began to join Rich on drums as his songs and stylings developed. Having for many years played not only with roots-metal stalwarts DERAILED but also theGreatFlood and BlackSmiths (and had sat in with theAgency), Scott has an exceptionally diverse collection of beats in his rolling-thunder-repertoire and he already shared Rich's desire to play rock-n-roll in a genre-defying yet accessible, energetic, expressive and atmospheric style. Initially they just rocked Rich's various riffs in whatever direction they took them in, forging a uniquely fluid guitarist-drummer bond. After a while Rich shored up the songs and added vocal parts. The duo grew quickly aware that their budding tree needed some bass-roots if it was to bear rock fruit. When Amy, who had impressed Rich and Scott with her lovely and lethal lines as bassist/vocalist of ALLDAYSUCKERS and bassist of DOUBLEBARRELSLINGSHOTS, said she was interested in filling the third element of their chemical compound, they knew that with the coming season MALFLEUR would bloom. The rest is history.PS:We are indeed most swiftly working to find someway of getting a song or two up here for you to hear. We'll let you know when you can give a sample to your ear.
