That is the law according to the rules.

About Me

Mom, music lover, bibliophile, sentimental, cynic/realist, napper, daydreamer, pop culture junkie, overthinker, occasional misanthrope, perpetual student.

My Interests

Hanging out with my awesome kid, reading, dancing, going to the movies, traveling, karaoke, the rush I get upon discovery of a new favorite song, giving and receiving mix cds as gifts, taking naps with my cat, the sound of fingers sliding across guitar strings, the library, good conversation, people watching, going to museums, thrift shopping, spending time with family and friends, time spent alone, taking pleasure in the little things.

I'd like to meet:

I'll do the dinner party thing: Christopher Hitchens, Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Rosario Dawson, Quentin Tarantino, Tracy Morgan(I appreciate his unpredictability and general craziness).

Music:

I'm not really hearing anything lately that's completely taken me by storm, but here's some of what I've been listening to:Pin Ups-David Bowie(ok this is awesome), some of the songs on Amy Winehouse's cd are pretty cool, Easy to be Hard-Three Dog Night, Needles and Pins-The Searchers(I wish I could find Jackie DeShannon's version, no luck yet)

Movies:

Best ones I've seen recently: Grindhouse(loved it!), Inland Empire, Zodiac, Pan's Labyrinth, Volver. Perennial favorites: Mulholland Drive, The Royal Tenenbaums, Kill Bill 2, Old School, 40 Year Old Virgin, Mr. Mom, Walking and Talking, Flirting With Disaster, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Singin' in the Rain.

Television:

The Wire, 30 Rock(hee-larious), Freaks and Geeks, The Office(both), Extras(Ricky Gervais can do no wrong in my book), King of Queens, The Daily Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel

Books:

Currently reading:Never Let Me Go-Kazuo Ishiguro, Letters to a Young Contrarian-Christopher Hitchens. Some Favorite Authors and Books: Kelly Link, Flannery O'Connor, Cat's Eye, Watchmen, Motherless Brooklyn, Barn Burning, Dogs of Babel, A Theory of Everything, David Sedaris, Harry Potter series, American Psycho, Geek Love, Shopgirl, Raymond Chandler, Sarah Vowell, Nick Hornby, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, The Virgin Suicides, East of Eden, The New York Trilogy, The Things They Carried, The Outsiders, Little House on the Prairie series, Bill Bryson, A Wrinkle in Time, Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, Jon Krakauer, Judy Bloom, J.D. My Blog

A new low

I made an unexpected discovery about myself today: I found changing my cat's litter box a welcome diversion from writing a school paper.   Just in case you were wondering why I've been in co...

2 COOL 2 B 4GOTTEN

The tape is worn with care and use, so worn in fact, that it's broken.  The thin, slippery contents snapped and spooled out in a heap.  It had been eviscerated.  After the shock subside...

The pursuit of?

I went to see The Pursuit of Happyness yesterday, and I really enjoyed it.  Will Smith and his kid are great in it.   I really was rooting for him, and identifying with him in a lot of ways....

The most wonderful time of the year

I'm so happy that autumn is upon us.  I guess being a Colorado girl, I'm always ready to start wearing my sweaters and boots and jeans and stuff.  Remnants from the excitement of child...
