For Barry Gardner,"singing" has always been a part of his life.In Canada it all began with a performance at the International Centre,then he participated at several ’open mic’ sessions.He has entertained at retirement homes and private functions including the Old Mill. To perfect his art,he took vocal coaching with Elain Overholt,Canada’s renowned vocal coach and musician. In 2005 Barry was invited to perform at the Jerk and Jazz Festival,and was an honour for him to do it again for 2006. In 2006 Barry was a guest artist for Canada’s Juno Award winner Mr.Leroy Brown on the occasion of Mr. Brown’s CD Release Party for his new CD entitled "Genuine Love".Mr.Gardner continues to delight audiences where ever he goes.It’s a compliment that so many people have stated that he sounds like Nat King Cole",of course to Barry that is the ultimate compliment as Nat King Cole has always been one of his all time favorite singers, followed by Earl Grant and the Great Oscar Peterson(who also has the sound of Nat King Cole)on his vocal cd.He also includes in this honour roll of the Great B.B King who said in his own words "I wish to look like Nat King Cole" The Good Lord has blessed him with a voice to sing Jazz, Ballads,Rocksteady,Ska and Reggae,So hes enjoying his Blessings and he hopes you do too.
