Ian Smith As a young boy, Ian Smith often would watch his idle and mother, Calypso Anne perform. Seeing her on stage in free-spirited performances, helped ignite Ian’s passion for music as well as a yearning to one day be that soul entity that entertains millions world wide.Ian’s first taste of the stage was as a young adolescence performing traditional West Indian dances at the Agricultural building during Toronto’s annual Canadian National Exhibition. Although he loved the art of dance he often felt a need to express himself through other forms of artistic performance. At a time when most young teens are experiencing the first day of high school, first love and pre-independence, Ian was forced to skip those memorable stages of life due to an unfortunate tragedy.Due to the lack of exposure of his vocal talents, Ian developed stage fright and became what would be called a “stair well singer, or a class room performer”. Several years later Ian’s heart still throbs and his palms still sweat before a show, yet there is an overpowering urge to be a “class room performer for the world to see”.
