Stefania Altomare

Stefania Altomare was born on 12th of august of 1980 and lives in Sibari (Cosenza,Italy). She's a singer and a musician, a songwriter and a student of English, Hispano-American and Anglo-American Literatures. She' s most interested with Music as a science and, as she loves History, she spends a lot of her spare time working as a touristic guide in the Archeological Site of the Old Sybaris. At the age of fourteen she began playing guitar and writing her own songs and music. In a few years she started working with various Bands in her town. In 1998 she funds her first band called ACUSTICA, writing songs for and together with the Band.They won the first place and they've been great in the performances in many Italian Rock contests, such as I-Tim Tour, Trofeo Roxy Bar-Miti della Musica, Accademia di San Remo, San Remo Rock & Trend, Voci da Sud and they displayed on the television programees like "Bande Sonore" (2001) and "Cosa Succede in Città" (2004). In 2005 she's been called to work with a new female-only band, where she sings, plays guitar and writes songs in italian, the name of the band is IGUANA. They recorded the succesful e.p. called "Fuori rotta" (www.rmm.it). At the moment she's writing new songs in her own style, just following her own melodic themes and taking care of her natural artistical development. In 2007 she decides to record her first album incuding songs written from 1997 until today. The project is called "Things that Ever Last" and every song referres to a picture took besides the physical eye: Mind. She's working to the new songs with other musicians, including old and new friends met upon the streets of Rock. The sound it's going to be simple, but it will be a sort of melt of many styles :Bossa Nova riffs on bass guitar, Irish freshness with sparkling notes on lead electric guitar, Jazz phrases from a rhytmic and soloing acoustic one and Rock power on drums.The voice will only think about being heavy and...sexy...!Only lirycs will seem to be a bit blue, but it's only because of the remembrance. Since 2004 until today Stefania studies Electric Guitar Techniques following private lessons and masterclasses with italian and international Axe Men. Cantante e Musicista, studia Lingue(Letteratura Inglese, Ispano-Americana, Anglo-Americana) all'Università. E' affascinata dalla musica come scienza, ha una grande passione per la storia e passa parte del suo tempo libero accompagnando i visitatori provenienti da ogni parte del mondo all'interno del Sito Archeologico dell' antica Sibarys. A quattordici anni inizia a studiare chitarra come autrodidatta accompagnandosi e scrivendo le sue prime canzoni prevalentemente in inglese, dopo poco tempo entra nell'ambito professionale regionale esibendosi con varie cover bands. Nel 1998 fonda il suo primo gruppo, gli ACUSTICA, scrivendo brani inediti con e per la Band che si distingue piazzandosi sempre ai primi posti delle più importanti manifestazioni Rock in Italia come Arezzo Wave, Sanremo Rock & Trend, l' Accedemia di San Remo, il Festival di San Marino e per quattro edizioni all' I- Tim Tour Estate nonchè al Trofeo Miti della Musica del Roxy Bar di Red Ronnie (www.roxyweb.it/emergenti/acustica) e a Voci Da Sud; partecipando inoltre ai programmi televisivi "Bande Sonore" (Italia Uno, 2001) e "Cosa Succede in Città" (Canal Jimmy, Sky, 2004).Nel frattempo si esibisce nei locali dello Stivale con un live acustico di chitarra, voce e armonica dal reprtorio rock-soul anni '60 & '70. Nel 2005 prende parte al progetto inedito IGUANA, band al femminile in cui scrive brani in lingua italiana e incide il singolo "Fuori Rotta" (www.rmm.it). Al momento lavora con diverse formazioni mentre scrive e incide nuovi brani che faranno parte del progetto "Things that Ever last": Le Cose Che Durano per Sempre, ovvero quelle fotogragfie scattate dentro che nessun obiettivo coglierà mai quanto l'occhio della mente. Dal 2004 studia chitarra elettrica e segue masterclasses di tecnica con i migliori chitarristi italiani ed internazionali. Scrive sulle riviste online www.accordo.it e www.neesk.com.
