After graduating at the Brussels Royal Academy as a Master in Classical Percussion and obtaining his teachers degree, Mattijs specialised on drums at the Rotterdam Pop Academy during 1 year. Nowadays he teaches drums & percussion classes in Etterbeek and Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.
He took lessons with great musicians: Gert Francois, Bart Quartier, Hans Eijkenaar, Juan van Emmerloot, Pieter Bast, Frank Michiels, Bart Bouckaert, Bruno Meeus, Stéphane Galland, Sigiswald Kuyken,...
Regularly, he PLAYS with BOWMAN, BL!NDMAN [4x4]sax, Ya'Mo & his live Elements, The Nursery Rhyme and Henri PROSPER.
