Sounds Like: Timm of Beaufunk once described my music as sounding like a mixture of all my influences combined to sound like something else, something completely different. That you can hear what I listen to in it, but it is fresh and new also. Kenneth does that also in his songs. We honor the music we grew up on by innovation rather than copying even at times transcending our influences by going even farther in than they did. So even our covers barely resemble the original songs. With an open mind and some musician skill there is no limit to what you can do.
Nothing you heard before or ever will again. One song will be psyedelic sounding the next soft and mellow a jazz theme,a third driving in a combination of punk and metal usually Kevin. With my songs I have been doing a lot of punk ' N' Roll metal influence lately. As well as what I describe as Punk Jazz fusion. Jazz Fusion is jazz with rock influence, well I come at it the other way Rock with jazz influence thrown in. Jagged guitar riffs that have more in common with be bop phrasing than traditional guitar riffs. Playing the guitar more for textures and rhythmic enhancement than actual notes sometimes. Tossing aside the more rigid traditional Rock way of guitar playing in favor of the free form loose style found in Jazz. I tend to still play the loud distorted rock style I grew up on. It is just a whole lot more fun to mix it all up. Songs and wild improvisations. I am also delving into new territory as a songwriter. For 10 Years I have been experimenting with MIDI, writing soundscapes and other types of music with Keyboards at their base. I still write straight ahead guitar rock songs on a regular basis, and have done a ton of work in my schools recording studio for 2 years, solo and with Robert and Kenneth.
One song I did lately is a song that is a hybrid of Punk and jazz called KS Rocks which can be heard on my 25 Years on myspace profile. The main riff is heavy rock with a free form jazz break. I have been writing jazz songs for quite some time now also. Even a classical guitar solo piece or 2. While another will be psyco punk acoustic folk sung by Nan. Kenneths style can best be described by him. As early as Blatz Robert has been an open minded and creative force in the local music scene as in the political scene. COPE always tries new things, and never wants to be tied to just 1 style or 1 sound, THAT IS BORING TO US.
