unless it is about horses, extreme plastic surgery, unusual deformities, serial killers/atrocities, the weather channel just drones in the background while i read. i will watch dexter when it returns. although a fictional drama, dexter falls under the serial killer label.
thin, the pop-up book of phobias, dangerous liaisons, gone with the wind, middlesex, ciderhouse rules, wasted, the handmaid's tale, zelda, age of innocence, prozac nation, horse people, black beauty, cry to heaven, little birds, charlotte's web, memoirs of a geisha. i read so much, it's hard to remember... one of my favorite ways to spend a rainy evening is to go to borders and get some coffee. then i head upstairs and read biographies/case studies of people with various forms of mental illness. i try to finish one or two in visit. i read very quickly. subject matter such as schizophrenia, autism, and eating disorders are personal favourites. drug addiction is good, too. sometimes i read case histories by actual psychiatric professionals if i can't find a good first person narrative. also like to hit the gay/lesbian studies, women's studies, and transgender studies sections. obviously, i like horsey book and training literature.
