I still watch, but not with the fervor of days gone by. Same for the other major American sports. Have developed a keen interest in soccer ( I played in high school, which was pretty much back in the Stone Age ) and an even keener interest in Australian Rules Football...Go West Coast Eagles!!........Movies, TV, and reading have been lifelong interests.......

How evil are you?

Music:

"Classic Rock", for lack of a better term....The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Spirit, Hendrix, Steppenwolf, The Yardbirds, Fleetwood Mac, King Crimson, Yes, and a slew of others that I will later kick myself for not including.......................My mom was a music teacher, so I was brought up on classical music, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. Try it, you'll like it.................. I like "New Age" or "Space Music" having become addicted to "Music From the Hearts of Space" on NPR about 20 years ago. More recently, I came across the "Dance Channel" on my cable system and, despite my advancing years, find myself really digging some of the electronic dance, techno, etc.

Movies:

I am a film fanatic. To list all of the films I like would take too long. My favorite directors are Stanley Kubrick ( R.I.P.), Martin Scorcese, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert Wise (old school entry), and William Wyler (another old school entry). Of the "younger directors", I like FFC's daughter, Sofia, Darren Aronofsky, and Quentin Tarantino.

Television:

I don't watch any prime time shows. Most often, I watch sports and movies and occasionally see what's shaking on CNN and TV Land.

Books:

"A Confedracy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole, "All the King's Men" by Robert Penn Warren, "The Source" by James Michener.... and many more

Heroes:

Bill Russell. He is one of the few public figures I am aware of who has always spoken his mind ( when the easiest course would have been to take all the money and stay silent) and has a keen sense of freedom, friendship, and personal responsibility.

Forty years ago today, "2001" premiered in New York. It had been shown three days earlier in Washington, D.C., but Kubrick edited about 15 minutes out after that showing, so the "2001" that its fans ...

Struggles With Electric Football

In a recent message to a Myspace friend, I brought up the subject of electric football and it got me to thinking of the frustrating, but, in retrospect, amusing, experience of playing electric footbal...

The Haunting of Hill House

I was rearranging my book case last week if for no other reason than to put off having to clip my toenails ( a subject of keen interest, I'm sure, for a future post). I ran across a book that it has ...

Fuzzy Socks

I was reminded recently by an old high school chum (I'll use the name "Bob", but his actual name is a palindrome of "Bob.") of a diversion to alleviate the boredom of sitting though home room in high ...

The greatest quarterback who never was

I am sometimes irritated by small matters. I know I should rise above them and let them be, but I cannot let this pass without venting in this modest forum.Recently, the NFL Network presented a show ...
