A native of Forkhill, Co. Armagh, Paula Flynn began listening to country, folk and bluegrass music when she was just a wee thing. Singing came naturally and she attended Ballyfermot Rock School years later. In recent years the voice has been put to good use accompanying anti-folk hero Jinx Lennon in gigs at home and abroad as well as in the studio.Let’s Dance was originally recorded for a laugh but found its way into the hands of Ballygowan advertising executives. The voice did it for them, and it seemed to strike a chord with the punters too. After fielding calls along the lines of "Who’s the girl singing the Bowie song?" EMI came on board decided to release it as a single. The wait will soon be over for Paula’s growing fan base on May 18th, when the song will be available in download format.
Paula is busy putting the finishing touches to the recordings she started with Steve Lynch, and will soon be looking forward to releasing a collection of songs as an EP very soon, she is also planning a string of gigs to bring her unique style to ‘red-shoe dancers’ all over the country.Miss Paula Flynn is currently studying for her second year communications exams in DCU while also recording her debut album. She’s pretty busy.
"An enchanting balladeer, Miss Paula Flynn is blessed with crystal clarity of
expression reminiscent of classic country singers such as June Carter Cash
and more contempory exponents like Rilo Kiley’s Jenny Lewis".
