" I endeavor to stamp my authority on the UK scene and take both the industry and the streets by storm" says Oaks.South London based Oaks is in his mid twenties and has been influxuated by music since birth. Oaks is coming from a Jamaican heritage where music was an integral part of his culture. From knee high heights Oaks had the ability to musically entertain. Born with rythem, Oak’s skills were utilized as early as primary school where he entertained mass audiences with two sticks behind the drum kit. His flare for the drums continued through Secondary school, during which time he represented his school at numerous concerts. Oaks decided to pursue his academic studies after Secondary School.During the early 90’s where Ragga/Dancehall music was echoing through ethnic minorities, Oaks’s father was deeply involved in the sound system industry, in fact, their movement became notoriously known, not only national, but on a international basis.Oaks had access to professional equipment, 80k sounding system. So what did he do? He developed and enhanced his skills on the Turn Tables which lead on to Oaks becoming a underground DJ in the UK Garage scene playing on a number of pirate radio stations, raves, events etc.In the late 90's Oaks joined forces with a close friend who he had common ground with, not only in music, but also in day to day life. Oaks went onto to DJ and produce different genres of music, mainly UK Garage, the dominating sound at that time. As we all know that soon changed. UK Garage was no longer classed as Soulful, uplifting, melodic music. This is when Oaks and his movement diverted there skills and focused more on the UK Rap, Hip-Hop, R & B scene."I am not a spitter" says Oaks, "I am not a producer, I am not a Engineer/Technician. I am a Musician, member dat" There is definitely more to Oaks than what meets the eye. He has a distinctive style which mirrors his emotions, morals and mind set. Oaks is focused on exposure, recognition and establishment and refuses to stop until that is achieved, comes what may! He has plans of releasing a solo mix tape - dates are to be confirmed, featuring his "foundation breadrins", vocalist plus other established uk artist.A little word of advice, keep you ears and eyes open because the streets will soon be talking.
