More than a band, Daylight Underground represent what is possible when belief and self-expression align.
Combining vintage instruments with slick electronic production this trio of exceptionally talented musicians effortlessly fuse the band and DJ to create a truly original sound. Completely live and highly interactive, Daylight Underground roar through every high energy set in an explosion of deep house, funky breaks and electro beats.
Prodigious vocals, virtuosic keys, deep bass and dirty rock and roll drums coupled with lush synths, wailing guitar and a wild array of programming and effects, the pallet is set for a new art.
The raw, tribal energy of each performance, not only connects to their audience, but deeply connects the audience to each other. They are modern day revolutionaries, offering all an opportunity to move beyond the known and into the now.
The band met whilst studying music though it wasn’t long before all three left the constraints of institutionalised education in search of a deeper experience. Extensive travel performing, listening and growing throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia gave them new ears with which to hear the world, and new ideas in which to express it. A chance meeting 2 years ago and the discovery of a shared vision began what is fast becoming a buzz band.
Now based in Melbourne Daylight Underground have been building a loyal following on both sides of the river with residencies at the Vineyard, Cape Lounge, Baraki and The Beach Hotel. And with a recent highlights including supporting De La Soul at the Shores Festival and rocking performances at St Kilda Festival and the Australian Grand Prix, the stage looks set for a big year.
The daylight is coming….
