Simon Wright here. Welcome to my page. By now a song would have loaded so hopefuly you are enjoying my tunes. I'm a singer/songwriter/guitarist/MC from Byron Bay on the east coast of Australia. Alot has happened on my journey so far but music has always been a part of it. At the moment I'm living in Melbourne chasing my dreams, playing with a shit hot band and just lovin life in general.. "The Eclective"
The Name "The Eclective" is the combination of the words Collective and Eclectic, which best describes the style of music. The musicians that make up the Eclective are very accomplished in a range of genres and try to bring that to the song writing and stage performance. Over all I guess you could say they're a groove band but they touch on every thing from blues, roots, funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, folk, reggae and even rock.
Since first comin to Melbourne the Eclective has been making quite an impression on the industry and punters alike landing their first recidency at the Blue Tile Lounge in September 2007. This was quickly followed by a residency at Melbournes iconic ESPY hotel in st Kilda. This momentum didnt stop there, the Eclective grew in popularity and in band members. The already all star cast now includes:
Tristan McCoppin (Lead Guitar)
Owen Downie (Bass)
Gus Rigby (Saxaphone)
Oscar O'Brian (Trumpet)
Andy Vollmer (Keys and Sax)
Phil Bonoto (Percussion)
Travis Constable (Drums)
And with the bigger band came bigger shows FEB 2008 saw the Eclective landing a residency at Fitzroys favorite live dance venue The Night Cat. And April saw the Eclective with another residency in another of Melbournes favorite night spots, this time on the other side of the Yarra, at "Veludo" in St Kilda. Of more recent "The Eclective" have been establishing themselves with an on going residency at Fitzroy's Evelyn Hotel. Starting in June, the regular mon night has not stoped gaining momentum, and with the summer months approching, Monday nights are shaping up to be one of the hottest nights of the week.
