About Me

omeratá – The Sound Of Inner Catharsisomeratá strive to push boundaries and they strongly believe in the music they create. This band is all about playing dark, intense, dynamic & progressive heavy music. The band formed in 2001 as Means To An End in Campbelltown NSW with the goal of writing music as heavy as they could. They played for two and a half years solid and recorded their first release through Common Bond Records as a split with Perish The Thought called ‘When Worlds Collide’ focusing on the promoting two totally different sounding bands under the one common idea of writing music they love to play. Now omeratá have moved beyond the music to featuring visuals all self made and edited and projected onto walls at shows, this is matched by the quieter side of both the band and their music. In Mid 2003 a few other bands decide to put their bids in on the name Means To An End. Having already agreed that changing the bands name was a good idea they decided to call themselves omeratá. This was something completely different to what they were surrounded by at the time, and is based off the Sicillian word omertá and made famous by Mario Puzo’s Godfather Trilogy. This is when they saw the opportunity to create their own meaning and a new direction. omeratá is the sound of inner catharsis. The band draw on many influences ranging from grind core to Stanley Kubrik to Beethoven to The Simpsons to Bjork to brutal metal riffing and screaming.omeratá have now spent the last 4 years trying to better themselves at everything they do and try to push their own limits everytime with awesome visually intense live shows and live improvisation. Since the start the band have been playing many local and interstate shows including the Resist Records Hardcore 2004 & 2005 show, the Utopia Records 25th Anniversary Metal Show with a variety of bands and supporting The Amenta at Goredo Metal Fest 2005. They have also supported international bands such as: Numb(Japan), Terror(US), The Hope Conspiracy(US), Most Precious Blood(US) and Evergreen Terrace(US)In April 2005 the 3 track 36min EP Consciousness In Four Dimensions was released as a limited edition digi-pak CD design with PC/MAC multimedia, photos, 30mins of live and studio footage all created by the band. This is only a sample of what is to come, with a long awaited full length album planned for Mid 2006.
