22 Brides

Hi Friends new & old - we are just working on getting this site up...we are now happily the owners of all our masters from our former labels (all of which were recorded on TAPE back in the day!), & all of our music will soon be up on ITunes and available here on Snocaps....22 Brides is me, Libby Johnson & my sister Carrie Johnson...we formed in 1994, but technically we formed as children, because we sang together our whole lives....our mom is from the south & played guitar & sang, dad played bagpipes, we both started playing instruments as kids, and it went from there. We moved all over the world with our family. Carrie and I moved to New York many moons ago and began working as backup singers for other artists, and eventually wound our way in and out of several bands, both individually and collectively....22 Brides happened quite by accident -- neither of us were doing too much & we decided to get a gig at CBGBs Gallery and do some of each other's songs. Like it goes in those stories, there was a gentleman from a label there who wanted to sign us that night! Ha! we thought....of course that didn't work out...but we were inspired to keep working together. We took songs we had both written and worked out ways we could do them together, with a focus on the harmonies we did together. Pretty soon after that we did sign with a label, Zero Hour Records, and went on to record three records on that label, the second released as an imprint on Universal Records, and spent the years from 1994 - 1998 touring and recording. Carrie Johnson is currently recording a solo record in Hartford, CT, where she lives, I, Libby, released my solo record in September of last year, and have been touring to promote it.
