About Me

Myspace Backgrounds
This 20 something, bay area bred artist has graced the stage with the best in music , from Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan , to the world renowned Earth,Wind & Fire and the world has yet to see him stand along side his peers." I started out in the industry doing hooks and writing with other artist around the hood in Vallejo, mostly the Crest. Mac Dre, P.S.D ,The Young D Boys . They would all come thru and buy songs , my brother and I got our prices up pretty high. This was before the whole hyphy movement, I remember E-40 sent his brother Mugzie over to the lab to get me on his Grit & Grind record. Since then we've done countless records together."T.J. has already been around the world doing live music and learned to play the guitar in the year he was on the road. " For a while things got slow. I just picked my guitar up went down to my dads house in Memphis and just wrote . I performed the songs I wrote in just about every spot I could imagine in New York, The Village, Park Slope, I even fell thru ashford & Simpson's new spot. " He laughs. Indeed T.J. is a driven artist whose talents don't end at the stage, he's written a handful of new TuPac music and is currently on some records for Jennifer Hudson's new project. Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band chose him to write the follow up to his hit record with R. Kelly. "It was a dream of mine to write with someone as gifted as Charlie"T.J. is no stranger to the streets and has seen his share of concrete . "My roots are found in God , He keeps me no matter what struggles I go through in life. When I get on stage they don't know what may have occured in my life that day but I can write about it." T.J. honed his gift both in and out of the church with his brother , it was more recently that he sought after his own calling in the game. "I've been through so much in this game, I managed to see it another year I know God has His hand on me. I feel like the remedy for the wrong I may have done in life comes through my craft.I live the hell out of life."The songs on this record reflect the hardships and everyday struggles of finding yourself in this game of life, hustling , addiction, and of course relationships. "I was always respected for my live performances . I have yet to translate that to a record for the masses to see and feel. I want to be known for my song crafting, as well as my influence on the way records are sold. I've learned from the best in every way , I want to reflect the things that I've been shown."Although troubled in his path , T.J. has good head on his shoulders and a pathway that leads to success. He speaks as a young legend in his prime.T.J. GibsonMax Reynolds AP
