Born In Teaneck, New Jersey, Son of Tyrone Downie Sr. [Organ/ Keys & Background Vocals for The Legendary Bob Marley and theWailers band] and Althea Forrest [of Althea & Donna, the first two (and only) females involved inthe early Reggae scene] IllesTr8 has been an artist ever since he could hold a pencil. Itdidn’t take long before he started song writing and production in various forms of art,from visual to musical.At around the age of two he moved from NJ to Jamaica where he lived most of his life. Adecade later moved to Miami where he would further develope his creativity,understanding of Hip-Hop music, and being a Master of Ceremonies. As Stephen and DamianMarley’s protege, IllesTr8’s signature ’TRAIT’ is limitlessness, being able to touch topicsof enjoyment and celebration, to the harsh realities of the grim state of our society. A mind is dead if there isno consciousness, so to say that Illestr8 is a "conscious rapper" is a redundant statement, yet he definitely hasn’t forgotten OUR-STORY and the struggle those before us had in gettingrespected as people, not to mention musicians.
