I'm Hempy, the abNORML MN mascot.The "ab" stands for Aurora Borealis to distinguish our NORML chapter from several others in the state - St Cloud NORML and UofM NORML come to mind. So, unleash your inner activist - there are some things that need to change, and you are just the person to do the changing! Yes, it is an overwhelmingly challenging national political issue. The important thing in any context is to stay true to what you know is right, but be courageous enough to change your mind when presented with undeniable facts.
Medical marijuana legislation makes sense because treatment decisions should be made in doctors’ offices, between the patient and the doctor. Politicians should not limit a doctor’s ability to treat the pain and suffering of their patients.
Please take a minute to e-mail and also to call Governor Pawlenty and urge him to reconsider his position on the Medical Marijuana Legislation.

If you have already e-mailed the governor, please take a moment to call his office as well. He can be reached, toll-free, at (800) 657-3717. You can simply state that you support S.F.345, the medical marijuana bill, and that, as a constituent, you strongly urge him not to veto this legislation
Medical marijuana in Minnesota is not a partisan issue. The bills had bipartisan support in both chambers and huge public support by Democrats, Independents, and Republicans – Minnesota voters support allowing patients to use medical marijuana with their doctors’ recommendation by a 2 to 1 margin. I truly hope that any partisan differences are put aside and the wellbeing of our citizens is put first. Medical marijuana can be very helpful in treating many serious conditions.
The unfortunate result of our current law is that many patients who can benefit from medical marijuana choose to obtain it illegally in order to relieve their pain and suffering, thus subjecting themselves to the threat of arrest. Patients suffering from debilitating conditions do not belong in prison. Please help protect them by supporting the medical marijuana bill (H.F. 655).
