The setting of Pachyderm is idyllic – a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired 6,000 square foot house, 4 large bedrooms, indoor swimming pool and sauna, DirecTV satellite, DVD, wireless internet, and more. In addition, the house has large veranda, bar, pool, large kitchen, and full laundry capabilities.) overlooking a spring-fed trout stream winding through old growth forest teeming with wildlife.
A short walk from the house is the recording studio, a 2,500 square foot building, naturally lit by large picture windows that frame the landscape, with five acoustically isolated recording areas including an acclaimed live room and a spacious control room. It is an entirely unique and peaceful work environment that is extraordinarily conducive to creativity.
Pachyderm is outfitted with the best in recording technology, both analog (classic Studer tape machines) and digital (Pro Tools HD3 Accel), supplemented by the best of the old and the best of the new supporting outboard equipment. The centerpiece of Pachyderm’s control room is a classic Neve 8068 recording console.
While providing an intimate recording atmosphere, the studio features a large live room, three isolated recording areas, and a granite room. All five recording rooms offer direct line-of-sight to the control room. Other studio amenities include the Bosendorfer Grand Piano, Hammond BV Organ, variety of guitars, basses, amps, drums, percussive instruments, refreshments from the kitchen, and wireless internet access.Pachyderm is one of the most popular recording studios in the midwest.
Since the opening of the studio in 1988, we have worked with many successful artists and producers, as demonstrated by our highly impressive portfolio. Our extremely affordable rates, and lodging capabilities make Pachyderm a cost-effective place for productions of nearly any size.
Combining a long history of releasing great sounding records, state-of-the-art equipment, and a great working atmosphere, makes this a perfect place to record.
In addition to the recording studio, the secluded location, lodging capabilities and abundance of wildlife offers a true "getaway" experience.

Pachyderm Preservation Project Mission Statement
The Pachyderm Preservation Project is in support of saving old growth forests from development in southern Minnesota. Old growth forests are at the minimum of 120 years old. By raising money for the project, we are not only saving forests we are guarding against destruction of future changes in the natural land. As the Pachyderm Preservation Project grows we will purchase land with the intent of keeping it in its natural habitat along with sustaining itself financially on an eco-friendly basis.
