We Are The Music Makers

Heavy, Freshhhh... the deep shit.

About Me

We Are The Music Makers began in a fiery cataclysm in April of 2005. Bassist Adam Castro invited a high school friend, Guitarist/Vocalist Mike Calabrese, to jam with him and drummer Mike Chierchio. In that night they wrote their first song, and a band was born.
The first two months was a period of intense creativity, and many of the songs that would be recorded for their first record were written. From the beginning the seeds were there: changing tempos, raging riffage, funky vibes, odd time signatures, melodic vocals. During this time, they gained attention for their stark originality next to the mainly emo Brooklyn scene. Their music was diverse and refreshing, powerful and musically challenging.
However, something got in the way of releasing the first songs as intended. They evolved. The seeds that had been planted early on had blossomed. With a sense of maturity, and a deeper musical inteconnectedness between them, their newer work made them re-evaluate their earlier attempts. But at these great crossroads, after a year of building up to this period of growth, Mike Chirechio left the band to pursue different music. Calabrese and Castro, now stranded with what seemed like no hope of finding a new drummer, by chance occurrence, founded the band Ecumenopolis as an outlet for their creativity. Yet, Ecumenopolis' creative power soon relinquished all doubts and fears. With the incredible healing powers of the fusing melodies of Calabrese, Castro, and Philly Salvagione mixed in with the versatile and virtuostic drumming of Russ Mitkowski a huge change was brewing. Now We Are The Music Makers stands taller than ever with the earthshattering sonic fury brought together by these four chemically bonded musicians. Mike Calabrese, Adam Castro, Russ Mitkowski and Philly Salvagione are We Are The Music Makers.
The band recently signed with Galvatraz records, and will release the full-length "Ecumenopolis" in Fall/Winter 2006.
Watch out and listen up. The Revolution is nigh.
