Ian Hayes first developed an interest in electronic music at a young age and very early on began listening to such artists as Nine Inch Nails and Prodigy. This interest was only a precursor to the first time he would experience the electronic music scene firsthand at the Power Company in Durham, which cemented his direction into the electronic/dance genre. His musical background, which included playing, writing, recording, or producing music in some form or another since he was 9 years old, led him to bass guitar, which he handled in previous musical projects; punk bands The Projects and Fat Aggression. His musical path developed further when he picked up DJing in early 2001. He was first into the dark sounds of hard techno and acid trance, then became hooked on drum’n’bass after seeing Usual Suspects at King’s in Raleigh in late 2000. He still retained a love for the dark sounds, and pushes that sound above others, while trying to maintain a balanced, varied set. He is beginning to learn production techniques while receiving his education in a Bachelor’s Program for Recording and Production at Appalachian State University, with a concentration in Upright Bass. Ian has appeared at numerous events such as the Easy weekly in Raleigh, the 2005 NC Underground festival in South Carolina, and the Digital Magic First Friday parties in Boone. He is also interested in promotion and hopes to begin throwing events, having already put together a show in Boone. Ian is willing to play any type of event and puts 100 percent into every set he plays, regardless of location or attendance.
