About Me

..
What do you wanna know?
My musical talent (and I use the word very loosely) is very limited.
I'd say I was a Bass Guitarist, but I actually enjoy playing the 6-string guitar more so.
I first played Bass when I was about 16 (I think), but first attempted to really play guitar when I was about 21.
I'm not one that can pick up a guitar and belittle someone who can't (because I am that someone that can't). I can't play all the infamous guitar licks (I can only just play my own), mainly because I've never had a guitar lession & can't read anything but 'tab' (and never wanted it any other way!).
I used to be in a band, I was previously in one for many years (playing bass). We were called Suzanne's Garden, then Parker and finally Harrison. That's where I, like my three good friends that stuck together 'till the end, learned to play (& master) our own. Honestly if there's anyone out there listening then just stick it out with each other, and if you get nowhere then at least the one thing you will get is confidence in your playing & writing. We knew each others playing inside/out, we were very tight and again between the 3 of us I don't think we had one single lession in our own musical instrument. Don't get me wrong, a trained musician would have knocked us for 6, but that wasn't (and isn't) what it's about. We just wanted to play and enjoy ourselves, and be able to carry a tune of our own and if possible cover a couple of our favourite artists along the way. Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Pixies, Teenage Fanclub, The Auteurs, Birdland, Buzzcocks, Undertones, Hendrix and a bit of Eugene Kelly and the late great George Harrison along the way..... just like everyone else (okay maybe not Birdland & Auteurs - but that was our difference & preference!). We were lucky enough to have performed at some great venues... The Borderline, Hope & Anchor (Islington), The Water Rats, The Kings Head (Fulham), The Rock Garden (Covent Garden) and Jimmyz! So anyway what I'm saying is... if you're lucky enough you'll make lifelong friends and have your songs heard to one man & his dog (and KNOW that the man & his dog thought you were AWESOME!!! Coz he told you personally, after the set list, as he helped pack your kit up and load it into your car!).
I love writing songs/melodies but always think "Hey that came a little too easily, it must be someone elses!", and never end up persisting with it (many have disappeared that way). So when I do complete a song I'm always very happy I stuck it out.
I'll also give any musical instrument ago once, just for the sake of adding colour to a song. Sometimes it's difficult to find an Indian Flautist when you need one, so I'll end up playing it myself, and then it goes back in it's box! Take the mandolin for instance... I bought it with all good intentions, taught myself Losing My Religion (pretty poorly), incorperated it into one song (From Now On - it's on the stand alone player) and put it back in it's box! Again I'll try anything.
I find I have ideas above my means (where can you get a full orchestra to help you out for nothing but a pork pie and scampi crisps as payment?). If you know of one then tell me, coz I've got the pork pies frozen & the boxes of scampi crisps are still in date! As I tend to work solo, it's difficult to ask for help as a third party has to fit around my schedule. Saying that my good, life long friend Eugene (of HEY EUGENE!) helps out alot, whether it be a friendly ear, some lyrics to a piece of music, or currently as a drum programmer/percussionist to a few new songs! Thank you PM!
The songs here are only very rough 4-track tascam portstudio recordings but the essence of each song - the seed - hopefully is conveyed. Again like I've mentioned before, I just like writing a song, and the "tune" should be clear even it's embryonic form. For now enjoy these tracks, I'll upload more very soon!
What more dya wanna know?
Thanks for popping by!
Peace & Love
