We can't live in the past. I'm not, but I can live in the present and think about the past. You're supposed to do that when you're old and grey. To hell with that. When I'm old and grey I probably won't remember my past. You've got to be young when you do it.It's really nice, you know, to look back and see the arc of your life. It's all connected, how you got from there to here. You see the line, you know. It really has been an adventure.Welcome to the International House of Harrison
I think it was John Lennon that once said the Beatles' best work was never recorded. I don't think that's necessarily true for harrison. We were a tight live band but it was in the studio that we tended to have our best ideas.
This was a different era. Most homes didn't have PCs - if harrison were just starting recording nowadays we could have the pleasure of cubase & pro tools and, of course, the luxury of time. That wasn't really an option back in the early / mid 1990s. Studio time wasn't cheap - so we had to try and record & mix two tracks in a day. Given the circumstances I think we did ok.
Unfortunately the cost of studio time was usually prohibitive for a bottom rung band just starting out. As a result we didn't really get a chance to record many of our live favourites. So here, for old time sake are some rough tape recorded versions of a few of the lost and forgotten harrisongs. Some fresh, some dated and some just plain odd.
On behalf of harrison, thank you.
PS please check out dunkie and hey eugene! to see what harrison did next
And finally, just to be the contrary old sods that they always were, 2008 could really be the year when all three end up back in a room with instruments in hand.....who knows
In the meantime for those of you who like to pick the peanuts out of pooh. The archives are being thrown wide open.
